Conclusion of Egg Osmosis Experiment
In conclusion, the process of osmosis was clearly demonstrated through this experiment. Osmosis, the movement of water particles from a place of higher concentration to a place of lower concentration, occurred through the egg membrane. Egg 1’s size increased after being submersed into water, while egg 2 shrank after being submersed into molasses. So my first hypothesis was some what correct. The egg in molasses did shrink and cave but not due to the molasses's acidity but because of Osmosis and the fact that there was less water in the molasses then the egg. My second hypothesis was correct the egg placed in blue tinted water did in fact slightly turn the inside of the egg blue, as well as making the egg swell.
